Like me, the folks at CVG thought THQ would feel the Wii U controller had pulled the rug out from under their uDraw tablet, but if THQ VP Martin Good is to be believed, the publisher is perfectly happy about it.
According to Good, THQ created the tablet not because they wanted to to sell a peripheral but because they wanted to make games that needed such a peripheral. And with the coming of the Wii U, Good claims THQ has experience other publishers lack that makes them "well poised to exploit this because we've already been playing with the drawing mechanic and we've got a lot of game designs in the pipe."
While publisher statements should always be taken with a grain of salt, and this could simply be a matter of saving face, I'm inclined to take Good at his word. THQ is not a peripheral maker, and there's no real indication that they want to become one. And even before uDraw they were experimenting with drawing in games like Drawn to Life. So THQ really does have experience in just the sort of game that would work well on the Wii U. Everything they've done for the uDraw Tablet can be easily ported, and because the Wii U controller is far more sophisticated than the tablet, the games will be much better.
Although one does wonder why, in spite of this experience, THQ hasn't announced a title for the Wii U yet.
