1. Deadly Creatures
My favorite Wii action game is wonderfully original and innovative, putting players in the exoskeletons of a spider and a scorpion and letting them loose in the desert. With superior graphics, an intriguing story and exhilarating action, this is a game every action fan needs.
2. Call of Duty: World at War
Saying World at War is the best first person shooter for the Wii would be damning it with faint praise; there are only a handful of Wii FPS games. This one would be a first rate FPS on any platform, with excellent controls and level design and a story that creates an immersive World War II experience.
3. Dead Space Extraction
Extraction takes the basic arcade shooting mechanics of the rail shooter and creates something far more powerful, an electrifying blend of action, story and striking visuals that makes this possibly the best rail shooter ever made for any platform. The game will keep you on the edge of your seat for its brief five to six hours of gameplay.
4. House of the Dead: Overkill
A high-concept take on exploitation movies, this rail shooter turns soulful songs, stylish graphics, purposely moronic dialogue and slack-jawed zombies into a stylish and irresistible piece of entertainment.
5. No More Heroes
No More Heroes has some of the best action of any game on the Wii, with cartoonishly bloody sword fighting that is crazed, frenetic fun. True, the non-action, sandbox-style parts of the game will make you want to bang your head against the wall, but when you're fighting (as opposed to driving around or mowing lawns) this game is awesome.
6. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
The Force Unleashed was released on a lot of different platforms, but the Wii version is easily the best. Controlling the force and a light saber with a game controller is okay, but waving the remote like a sword and using gestures to throw soldiers and objects like rag dolls is so much better. The story is a mess, but the action is awesome.
7. Muramasa: The Demon Blade
This is one pretty game. So pretty that, even though the story is weak and the combat repetitive, it is very hard not to enjoy yourself. Truthfully the action, while quite entertaining, is probably somewhat irrelevant; as a platformer, adventure game or RPG, a game this pretty would have received as many rave reviews. It’s just that pretty.
