The remote comes in a rubber jacket, designed to protect it, which you will have to partially peal off in order to open the battery door. Put in the batteries, close the battery cover and pull the jacket back on. Now push the A button on the remote to make sure it is working (a blue light will appear at the bottom of the remote).
