The Nintendo Wii has an interesting control scheme, and E3 gave Nintendo the chance to convince the masses that their new approach to the game industry will work. No matter how intuitive their new system, though, there's no arguing that Nintendo has become famous making games that were original conceived and built on something entirely different. Metroid Prime, Zelda, and Mario Brothers all first appeared on the classic NES, which used two buttons and a direction pad. All three titles survived just fine in the transition to the analog on the N64, but how well are they doing on the Wii?
After several hours worth of hands-on time at the Nintendo booth this E3, we have a lot better impression of how each of Nintendo's major franchises are doing on the Wii. Are all of them coming along well? No, they're not. Some of them are coming across better than others, and there's at least one that we're seriously worried about.
Come with us for a second as we examine each of the major Nintendo franchises that they showed at E3 2006, and see whether not the Wii is going make them better, or just kill them.
