Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has been insisting for some time that the Wii U version of their Aliens: Colonial Marines would be the one to get. But after the critical drubbing the game received upon its recent release for other platforms, excitement for the title among Wii U owners has dried up, with hopes that Gearbox will do a major revamp before a Wii U release.
Someone on reddit, posting as throwawayacm, tells an interesting story of the game's development in which it was tossed back and forth between Gearbox and Timegate Studios for six years with disastrous results. While an anonymous source on reddit is not necessarily reliable, Kotaku says the story matches up with what its been told by someone else connected with the project.
In the comments of the Kotaku article, the author notes that he heard a tip a month ago that the Wii U version had been indefinitely postponed. If you were looking forward to fighting Aliens on the Wii U, you may have to give up on that dream for now.
