Wii U Beats Wii First-Week U.S. Sales

By November 27, 2012

Follow me on:

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has told CNET that the Wii U sold 400,000 units in its first week, 100,000 more than the Wii sold in the same time period. The new console is sold out in many places, but Fils-Aime says Nintendo is working to replenish supplies.

Many industry analysts have predicted strong sales for the Wii U in its first few months followed by a severe drop off. Analysts predicted the same thing for the Wii back in 2006, and turned out to be wrong, but they appear to be working on the theory that if you keep making the same prediction it will be right sooner or later.
