I'm getting really tired of reporting on all the ways the Wii U's online roll out is sub par. The latest bad news, courtesy of GamesIndustry International, is that the Nintendo Network account you use to download games and access online features is tied to the console you create it on. If the console is lost, stolen, or ruined beyond reclamation, your account info, including any purchases, is gone.
I am somewhat flabbergasted by this. What is the point of having accounts that can't store information? Nintendo does say that at some point in the future you'll be able to access the Nintendo Network from a PC and from "future Nintendo consoles," but that's something that should be there from day one, and there's no indication of whether this will change on the Wii U.
Well, at least now that they console has launched the bad news should be running out soon.
