If you thought Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was destined to be the last Wii epic released in the U.S.? Think again. Nintendo has just announced that the critically acclaimed Japanese RPG Xenoblade Chronicles is coming to the states.
Xenoblade Chronicles is one of three games that have been the focus of a grassroots campaign called Operation Rainfall created to convince Nintendo to release these games in the U.S., instead of just in Japan and Europe. For some reason Nintendo has given American Wii owners short shrift, withholding many of the Wii's most critically acclaimed titles.
Nintendo has announced the game will sell only on their own site and on Gamestop, which lists the game's release date as April 2, 2012.
Is this a sign that Nintendo will release more Wii games from their back catalog? Hopefully so. It probably depends on how well this one sells. In the meantime, Americans are finally going to get a chance to play one of the most highly acclaimed JRPGs in the history of the Wii.
